Terms of use
Plain words about how inbetween works, and what happens to a thought after you leave it.
Last updated 15 October 2026.
What inbetween is
inbetween is an anonymous place to leave a thought in answer to a weekly question. There are no accounts, no profiles, no comments and no messages. You must be 18 or older to leave a thought.
Keep it anonymous
Please leave out real names, contact details, addresses, and anything that could identify you or another person. Every thought is given a random name, such as “Quiet Otter”. That name is made fresh for each thought and isn't linked to you.
Review before anything is public
A person reads every thought before it can appear. Not every thought is approved, and we may take a thought down later. We don't have to give a reason.
How your thought may be shared
When you tick the box on the write page, you agree that if a moderator approves your thought, we may:
- show it on the public wall, and keep it in the archive of past questions;
- share it on inbetween's social media, such as Instagram and TikTok, as text, an image or a video;
- use it in ads and other promotional material for inbetween.
We will only ever show your words with the random name, never with anything that identifies you. We may shorten a thought to fit, or fix a typo, but we won't change what you mean. You won't be paid for this, and you'll keep owning your words. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, free permission to use them in these ways.
What you promise
The thought is your own words. It doesn't identify or target anyone, and it doesn't contain anything unlawful, hateful or harmful.
Taking a thought down
You can ask us to remove a thought from the wall and from our own social accounts. Because there are no accounts, tell us the random name on the note, roughly when you wrote it, and a few of its words. We'll stop using it from then on. We can't take back copies other people have already saved or reshared, or an ad that has already run.
Write to inbetween.wall@gmail.com, or message us on our social accounts.
Not a crisis service
inbetween isn't a crisis service and nobody here can respond in an emergency. If you're in immediate danger or thinking about hurting yourself, please contact your local emergency number or someone you trust.
If these terms change
We may update this page. A thought stays under the terms you agreed to when you left it. Thoughts left before 15 October 2026 were shared on the wall only, and we won't use them on social media or in ads.
